DSCF0645Anna is the 87th stranger in my project. She was having a coffee and a conversation with a friend in Westwood Village in Los Angeles. Her eyes were the initial draw. I waited a while for a break in their conversation to ask her if I could take a photo of her. She obliged and described herself as a lawyer, Russian and friendly. By this time in the project, the conversation the subject and I have was becoming more important than the lighting or the settings of my camera. The conversation opens the subject up and I get to know them in a very short amount of time. I see their thought process with their answers and how they struggle with them and the answers themselves are telling. Most have described themselves with positive adjectives and this almost always translates to a better photo.
